Fly Tying Night Recap: Learning the Art of Chironomids with Silvia D’Amelio

Our January Fly Tying Night with Silvia D’Amelio was a success. Members gathered to refine their skills and deepen their understanding of chironomids—one of the most essential insects in a fly fisher’s toolkit. Silvia expertly guided us through tying techniques, emphasizing the importance of shape and form when crafting these patterns.

Beyond the hands-on instruction, Silvia shared her knowledge on fishing chironomids, detailing their behavior, movement, and best practices for presentation on the water. Attendees left with not only new flies but also a greater confidence in using them effectively.

It was wonderful to see so many newcomers joining in and honing their skills. We love seeing our community grow and look forward to hosting more educational and engaging events in the future. Stay tuned for what’s next—tight lines!
